We have signed a rental contract on a beautiful house in Averbode, Belgium! The property includes a separate building with a large garage for Paulus and a 67m2 space (with toilet and kitchen) for our healing work. Our official move-in date is May 1, but we are already moving furniture and boxes into the workspace there. In June, we will go to America for two weeks, and after that we will divide our time between Utrecht and Averbode.

In Averbode, we will be planning an open door and putting together an agenda of workshops, concerts, meditation evenings, etc. We welcome contact from healers, musicians, yoga teachers, etc., in the area!

We hebben een huurcontract getekend op een schitterend villa in Averbode, België, met grote tuin en schuur. In de schuur is een garage met voldoende werkruimte voor Paulus, en ook een ruimte van 67m2 voor de praktijk. We krijgen de sleutels op 1 mei, maar zijn al bezig om meubels en dozen te verhuizen naar de schuur. In juni gaan we voor twee weken naar Amerika, en daarna zullen we onze tijd verdelen tussen Utrecht en Averbode.

In Averbode gaan we een open deur plannen en een agenda maken van workshops, concerts, meditatie avonden, e.d. (en ook behandelingen inplannen, natuurlijk.) We bieden iedereen welkom, inclusief healers, musikanten, yoga leraren, e.d. die misschien samen met ons gebruik van de ruimte willen maken!

Our future plans are becoming clearer. We are definitely going to move to Belgium, because we have a better chance there to realise our dreams. We want to build a small eco-house / eco-center where friends and guests can enjoy delicious organic meals and healthy, relaxing treatments. This will only be possible after a few years, at least, so we will first look for a house to rent, with as much green and stillness as possible.

Onze plannen worden duidelijker. We gaan naar België verhuizen omdat de kans veel groter is in België dat we onze dromen kunnen realiseren. We willen een klein eco-huis/ eco-centrum bouwen, waar vrienden en gasten kunnen genieten van lekker biologisch eten en gezonde, ontspannende behandelingen. Dat zou pas over ten minste een paar jaren mogelijk zijn -- we gaan eerst een huurwoning zoeken, met zo veel mogelijk groen en stilte.

For several years we have been looking to rent (or possibly buy) another house with more rooms, so that we can expand our services. We would like to offer a B&B and treatment package to guests and their friends and families who are in need of extra physical, emotional or spiritual support. In particular, we would like to help cancer and AIDS patients, people with CVS or other chronic illnesses, and people under stress from their job, a home situation, or the death of a loved one.

Last spring, we found a beautiful house in Bunnik that was just what we were looking for, plus a whole lot more. It's a Rijksmonument, next to a nature preserve, with 14 rooms. We would have 4 rooms for B&B and 4 rooms for meetings and workshops. (The house is already an official wedding location...) I went all out, and wrote a detailed business plan (all in Dutch, even, with pictures.) You can Download the business plan here if you'd like to read it.

But as the months went by, it seemed pretty clear that the energy was blocked somehow, and we weren't going to get that house.... (I hope someone else gets it, though -- it is still for sale and still a perfect location for all sorts of nice projects.) Now we are looking at other options, and have followed some workshops in how to build with strawbales and lime plaster. (see Casa Calida) It was fantastic! Currently we are thinking to buy land in Belgium and build our own alternative and eco-friendly house there, where we can continue and expand our practice and our B&B, and Paulus can specialize in eco-friendly house building.

But we could also join another project being started by friends in Belgium, or two different Eco-villages in Holland. (see Ecodorp Brabant and Alminde.) I will write another update when we have more information....

We are not actively giving house concerts right now, but who knows? Maybe there will be space in our new house in Belgium.

Emily is also not actively seeking English translation work or students who need English bijlessen, but who knows? Once we get settled in Belgium, many things are possible.
